Canvas Tempranillo

Juniper Estate Canvas Tempranillo is a blend of five different Tempranillo clones – and, in some years, a dash of Shiraz – from the winery's Margaret River vineyard.

The fruit is handpicked and cold soaked for several days. This gently extracts colour, aroma and flavour while preventing fermentation from beginning early.

Fermentation occurs in hand plunged open fermenters, again allowing gentle extraction. Maceration continues during 10-14 days on skins before the wine is transferred to barrel.

The wine typically spends 15 months in a mix of seasoned hogsheads and puncheons, where it also undergoes malolactic fermentation.

Ruby red, Juniper Estate Canvas Tempranillo is a smooth, medium bodied wine with juicy berry flavours and fine tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
